Melt In Your Mouth

A crowd gathers

Don’t move! MeltBakery, the small company serving up innovative ice cream sandwiches that formerly operated only out of food carts, has finally settled down in a brick & mortar location after two years of planning and hard work. Don’t worry! They’ll continue to appear at street fairs, but for owner and flavor-combo-master Julian Plyter, the stationary location is a big step forward.

Julian hasn’t always been in ice cream. He used to work in the arts, but decided to pursue a lifelong itch to enter the culinary world with an education from ICE, an externship at Le Bernardin and then a job at Lever House, where he started dreaming up combos for ice cream and cookies. He and his partner Kareem started MeltBakery in 2010. Today the company makes all its own ice creams and cookies with a focus on dynamic and seasonal ingredients and flavors. You can find them in combinations like the Classic: vanilla ice cream between walnut chocolate chip cookies, the Belle: brown butter bourbon shortbread cookie with peach ice cream, the Lovelt: red velvet cake cookies with cream cheese ice cream, and more. In addition to serving sandwiches out of their carts and new location, MeltBakery caters special events with a full array of mini sandwiches.

The MeltBakery shop just opened its doors this past weekend. You can find Julian, the MeltBakery crew, and all their tasty ice cream treats at 132 Orchard St. Congratulations to everyone involved!

In case you missed it, Julian was just on Fox News Magazine sharing how to make the perfect cookie, be sure to watch the video to find out how!
