I’m In the Kitchen has gotten the awesome opportunity to attend the 11th Annual Iron-Skillet® Cook-Off at Crimson Restaurant on October 22nd!
The Iron Skillet® Cook-Off was the genius brainchild of a firefighter who wanted to show his support for his fellow community heroes after 9/11. The event is hosted by World Cares Center and is a cook-off between five of our boldest and bravest, and five top restaurant chefs. Now, don’t be fooled and think the chef’s got this one in the bag. These firefighters are no strangers in the kitchen, and certainly know how to perform under pressure.
Besides getting to bask in this culinary celebration, we’re able to honor the iron-clad spirit of emergency responders that keep our cities safe, every day.
All proceeds go to fund WCC programs that prepare youth, seniors, and entire communities to work together as ready responders during disasters and emergencies. WCC does this by empowering individuals, strengthening communities, holding training programs to prepare for emergency response and by having the support of other partners in the field such as the Offices of emergency Management, The Governor’s Office of Volunteerism and Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster. The brave men and women of WCC have responded to the 9/11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the Haiti Earthquake, the Japanese Tsunami and Hurricane Irene. Their expansive reach stretches over 27 states and four countries.
Honesty, we can’t think of a better way to support these guys than stuffing our faces, enjoying a few brews and bidding on some great prizes. This is the kind of charity we can really get behind.

And, if you can’t shell out the $200, please donate $5 to your favorite firehouse or restaurant chef and the person with the most votes wins an extra point on the big night.
